Artişti pop precum Lady Gaga, Cheryl Cole şi La Roux sunt în topul trei al celor mai vândute piese din Marea Britanie, doar unul singur aparţine unei trupe rock, Rage Against The Machine “Killing in the Name”, potrivit bbc.co.uk.
Muzica pop a câştigat în 2009 peste cinci procente faţă de 2008: 33.5% din piesele vândute aparţin acestui gen, conform Official Charts Company.
Aproape 19% din piesele cumpărate de englezi aparţin genului R&B (JLS, Beyonce, Dizzee Rascal) iar muzica hip-hop 9%.
Rockul a pierdut şapte procente în 2009, ajungând la 24.5% faţă de 31% în 2008.
